With over $400 million in global sales and 21 million hours logged in gameplay, it’s easy to see how they broke their previous records.
The GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ awarded the Halo 5 live stream launch broadcast with the title for most watched video game launch broadcast with over 330,000 people tuned in on the night of the broadcast. Content from the broadcast eventually reached over 5.5 million total views.
Halo 5’s success extended over to Twitch, with over three million hours watched in the first week.
Also announced is the Halo World Championship that will run through December to March and will see the U.S. and Canada, Europe along with the Middle East and Africa, Greater Asia, Latin America, as well as Australia and New Zealand battle it out for the championship title. The prize pool is already over $1.5 million and it grows larger every day.
